The Student Council and Students Against Destructive Decisions at McKenna Elementary School in the Massapequa School District teamed up to raise money to support people affected by recent disasters.
Staff members and students participated in the Dollars for Disasters fundraiser by donating $1 each. In order to promote this event, SADD created vibrant posters that were hung in the hallways and Student Council created a video using the green screen. The school raised $262, which was recently presented to a representative from the American Red Cross.
The Student Council is advised by teachers Erin Rohan and Mary Ellen Scheffler, and SADD is facilitated by social worker Melissa Verlizzo.
